Custom Logistics and Parcel Management Platform

Industry: Logistics & Parcel Delivery
Scope: Client Portal + Admin Panel
Timeline: 6 months
Platform: Web Application

Client Background

The client operates in the parcel forwarding and consolidation space, helping users receive, process, and ship goods across countries. Because operations spanned both end-customers and an internal operations team, the platform needed two distinct experiences built on one shared data model: a self-service client portal and a full admin panel for managing shipments, invoices, and statuses.

Who was the client?

  1. Full-cycle shipment & invoice management
  2. Serving both individual users and an internal operations team
  3. Running on manual, disconnected processes before this platform

Challenge

No unified system.

No unified system.

Package, shipment, and invoice tracking ran through manual, disconnected processes with no self-service option for end customers.
Complex relational data model.

Complex relational data model.

Packages, shipments, invoices, addresses, and users all had to interconnect through multi-status workflows without conflicting business logic.
Two distinct experiences, one backend.

Two distinct experiences, one backend.

A customer portal and a separate admin-operations panel, each with its own permissions, workflows, and bulk actions, had to run on a shared data model without duplicating logic.
Evolving requirements mid-build.

Evolving requirements mid-build.

Design and business rules kept shifting during active development, so design and engineering had to stay tightly synced in real time instead of working off a frozen spec

Solution & Approach

We built the platform from the ground up on Laravel and Vue.js, starting with the core relational data model before touching any UI. On top of that shared backend, we delivered two distinct experiences: a self-service client portal and a full operations panel. So the client's team could manage packages, shipments, and invoices without touching code

Key elements of the solution

  1. Relational data model designed upfront (users, addresses, packages, shipments, invoices) before UI work began
  2. Custom client portal and a separate admin/operations panel built on one shared backend
  3. Component library evaluated and chosen deliberately (Material UI, Vuetify, and shadcn-vue compared) for consistency and long-term maintainability
  4. OTP-based email verification for secure account registration
  5. Standardized icon system (Radix UI Icons + Lucide) applied consistently across both interfaces
  6. Form validation implemented on both frontend and backend to prevent bad data at every entry point

A Process That Adapts With You

Requirements shifted constantly during this build. Instead of freezing the spec, our design and engineering teams stayed in sync in real time - so changes got absorbed, not derailed. If your project looks the same way, this is how we keep it moving.

Results & Business Impact

Operational Impact

  • Replaced fragmented, manual tracking with one relational data model connecting users, packages, shipments, and invoices — keeping status and payment tracking consistent across the whole platform.
  • Gave the operations team a dedicated admin panel for bulk actions, manual status overrides, and customs document handling in one interface instead of ad hoc handling.

Technical Impact

  • A deliberately evaluated component library, a shared backend architecture avoiding duplicated logic, and a tightly-synced design-development process gave the client a modern, maintainable platform with UX issues caught early rather than after launch.

Experience Impact

  • A single home dashboard brings shipments, invoices, addresses, and packages together, so users see their full account status in one place.
  • Self-service tracking with sortable lists and detailed shipment cards removes the need to contact support for basic status checks.
  • Secure sign-up with OTP email verification and dual-layer validation reduces friction and bad data at account creation.
